My "unveiling" and enlistment ceremony on 29 Oct.

Alpha Company formation before going on the field (5:45am)

Dan Wilson: "We'll file out left, then left again, go to the right..."
Michelle:  "Is left this way?"
Kolchak: "Don't worry Uncle Dan. I'm paying attention.  Just ignore the blond lady."

Mom's talking me through the enlistment ceremony,
warning me about applause, shouting, and the wet stage.

HSM (Honorary Sergeant Major) Jerry McKinny loves to pet me.
I'm not his first Kolchak, but I'm sure I'm his favorite.
Uncle Dan and Uncle Royce explaining the plans for the morning

Uncle Royce telling about my enlistment

Uncle Royce introducing me with Jerry looking on

Officially getting my "SuperKolchak" cape

How many humans does it take to put this cape on?

Just some of the Wolfhounds watching.

Here's more of my guys.

And the rest of them.
I wish my deployed Wolfhounds could've been here.
(Come home soon and safe!)

I'm learning the Army way of "Hurry up and wait."

Uncle Dan and I lead the way.  First, we have to walk out of the quad.
I'm not too excited by the sound of over 500 soldiers walking behind me.

Uncle Royce is behind me and to my left.
I'm glad I'm here to do this!

This and the following shots are my fellow Wolfhounds by company.

Seems awfully early to be exercising!

You think this has to be the last group, but then another group files out.

We're back!
They went 2.5 miles. I ran 200 meters with them,
then jogged with Mom to a meeting point about 1/4 mile away.
We waited for ten minutes until the guys reappeared.
While I waited I watched many groups run by in Halloween costumes!
I joined my soldiers for the last 200 meters back to the quad.
The sound of them marching was scarier the second time.

Are we done yet?

Now that it's daylight, you can see my guys better.

I did it!  Mom and Uncle Dan are so proud of me!!

I join the Wolfhounds while they give three men awards.
I did really well for my first two times thunderous applause.
I spooked a bit, but didn't flail around.

Bravo Comany wanted a photo with me.
Are we the most handsome bunch of soldiers you've ever seen?

Strike a pose.

More photos of me.
I think I stopped to pose about 100 times this morning.
It's all part of my job and I'm happy to do it.
I had a great time Friday on post. I slept the rest of the day!

There's been some confusion about my blog.  It's mine.  Not Mom's.  Yes, it's hers in that you have to be 18 to have a blog so she signed up for it, but it's me at the keyboard.  Neither of us are technological geniuses, but we're learning how to blog.  Someone help me find a manly background!  Paw prints... PUHleeeze!!!

Introducing My Dog Parents

Today I had a regular dog day.  I'm starting to feel more comfortable here so I chewed some furniture and wagged my tail.  One was greeted with a scowl and the other with joy.  It's hit-or-miss with what pleases these folks, but I do try.

I'm also starting to like my furry sister, Isabella. She's so short, she walks under me!  Hopefully Mom will get a photo because it looks funny.

I talked to Grandma Jane today too.  At first I couldn't find her.  She was hiding in a black box!  Try as I might, I just couldn't smell her in there.  Mom says she was on speaker phone.  Whatever.  I perked my ears up and wagged my tail at the box.  I even came when she called me.  Aren't I a good boy?  Mom had called to see how to keep me from crying when left alone in my crate at night.  Good luck with that Mom.  I don't like being lonely.

So you can see where I get my stunning good looks and winsome personality, I'd like to introduce my parents.  Ladies first.

Ch. Korsakov's Once Upon a Time
(for non-show dog folks Ch. = Champion)

Next, my dad.  Oh, Grandma Jane explained that he's originally from Sweden, but he lives in America now.  I get it... not a long distance relationship.

 Borscana Stratocaster "Fender"

Winning award at his job - different from mine, but we all have one.

That's it from Hawai'i.  Mahalo for checking in on me!

First trip to Schofield Barracks

Just so Mom knows who left the present,
(I didn't want one of my three siblings to get credit)
I laid it by my SuperKolchak cape.

My first trip to see my guys.  They were very excited to meet me.
I handled their enthusiasm in my usual calm, cool manner.

So many Wolfhounds!  (and my sister's tennis ball.)

I posed for many, many pictures.

(As seen from A Co. CQ desk in D Quad)
Here is my home away from home.
It's uptown for a dog house!
A/C, my own light, a doggie door, a place to install shade,
and even a linoleum floor.  I'll use it when I have early
morning events so no one has to drive me in a 3:30am.

Wow!  He's tall Dad!  Usually, I'm taller than a man's knees.
He actually makes me feel average size.

CSM Manis (some folks call him Royce), 1SG Crump (Dad),
and me wearing my SuperKolchak cape.
Aren't we three handsome army men?

Dad loves me and he's proud of me too.

Preview of Kolchak, King of the Wolfhounds.
I've popped into a Wolfhound Indoctrination Class.
Mom thought I'd be overwhelmed by the crowding in,
so many soldiers, and so many hands.  I proved her wrong!

Where's Waldo? Nope. Where's Kolchak?

My Wolfhound buddies reached out gently and slowly.
They were so good to me.
Whenever I felt a touch, I stopped and let them pet me.
They also took lots of photos and video of me and with me.
I've heard I'm going to be on lots of guys' Facebook pages.

Going down the aisle full of chairs, boots, and strange faces.
I didn't even flinch. All eyes are on me.

I feel so loved!

Left, right, cha cha cha...

Visiting the grave markers of those who have gone before me.
I am humbled.

At the vet's.  Guess what?  I'm fine. (duh)

I was so tired from all the activity before my appointment that I slept in the exam room during Isabella's appointment.  Hey, a guy needs a nap!  Then, when the vet came to look at me, I barely startled and Isabella growled at the vet.  Who knew such a pansy would defend me?  How sweet.  She's growing on me and if she'd just calm down, I might even like her. For now, I've stopped avoiding her.

My sweet Vet Tech, SPC Hayden.
She just got braces today so she almost
wouldn't let us take her photo.  Now she's famous!
I like her and hope I see her again.

Mom said this is the best thing she's ever seen in the rearview mirror.

One tired Borzoi enjoying his personal fan.

 Long day...
